Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of the Backfeed app and the optional Backfeed Cloud service. Backfeed is made by an independent developer. Please read these terms; by using Backfeed you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the app.
What Backfeed is
Backfeed is a native iOS and macOS app for printing to thermal label printers. It has two ways to print:
- Local printing — the app talks directly to a printer on your own network. No account and no server of ours are involved.
- Backfeed Cloud — an optional paid subscription. It runs a relay service that carries your print jobs to your printers when you’re not on the same network as them.
Purchases and subscriptions
- Backfeed Local is a one-time in-app purchase that unlocks printing your own PDFs and images on your local network.
- Backfeed Cloud is an auto-renewing subscription. Plans are tiered by how many printers you connect. New subscriptions include a 14-day free trial; unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription begins and renews automatically at the price shown at purchase.
- Apple handles all billing. Purchases, the free trial, renewals, price display, cancellations, and refunds are processed by Apple through the App Store under Apple’s terms. We never handle or see your payment details. Manage or cancel your subscription, and request refunds, through your Apple account settings — cancellation there stops future renewals.
- A Backfeed Cloud subscription includes local content printing while it is active, so you do not need the Backfeed Local unlock as well while you subscribe. It does not replace or consume that unlock: if you own Backfeed Local, you keep it permanently, and if your Cloud subscription lapses, local content printing continues only if you own it.
Acceptable use
You agree to use Backfeed only to print content you have the right to print, and in compliance with applicable law. Don’t use Backfeed to:
- print or distribute unlawful, infringing, or fraudulent material;
- attempt to break, overload, probe, or gain unauthorized access to Backfeed Cloud or the printers or accounts of others;
- resell or redistribute the Backfeed Cloud relay service as your own.
We may suspend cloud access that is being used in these ways (see “Termination”).
Availability — no service-level guarantee
Backfeed Cloud is provided “as is” and “as available.” We work to keep it running, but we do not promise any particular uptime, throughput, or delivery guarantee, and there is no SLA. Print jobs may be delayed or fail for reasons inside or outside our control (your network, Apple’s services, your printer’s state, maintenance, or outages). Local printing depends entirely on your own network and hardware. For anything time-critical, don’t rely on cloud delivery as your only path.
Your content
You keep all rights to the documents, images, and labels you print. Backfeed does not claim ownership of your content. In the Backfeed Cloud path your document data passes through the relay to reach your printer and is not stored by us (see the Privacy Policy). You are responsible for the content you print and for having the right to print it.
Our intellectual property
Backfeed — the app, the Backfeed Cloud service, and the Backfeed name — is owned by its developer. These terms don’t give you any rights in Backfeed’s software, branding, or trademarks beyond the right to use the app as intended. Don’t copy, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the app except as allowed by law or by Apple’s standard licensed-application terms.
The App Store’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) also applies to your use of Backfeed; where it and these terms overlap, these terms describe the specifics of the Backfeed service.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Backfeed and Backfeed Cloud are provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the app or the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any print job will successfully reach a printer.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Backfeed’s developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, wasted label stock, or business interruption, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Backfeed or Backfeed Cloud. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for Backfeed Cloud in the 12 months before the claim (or, for the one-time unlock, the amount you paid for it). Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Termination
- You can stop using Backfeed at any time, and cancel a Backfeed Cloud subscription through Apple.
- We may suspend or end Backfeed Cloud access if these terms are violated (for example, the acceptable-use rules), or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue Backfeed Cloud, we’ll make a reasonable effort to give notice.
- Ending cloud access does not affect local printing, which continues to work without our service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes to Backfeed Cloud will be noted by updating the effective date and surfacing a notice in the app or on this page. Continuing to use Backfeed Cloud after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
Assignment
You may not assign these terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of Backfeed; the assignee takes on the same obligations to you, including everything the privacy policy promises.
